Online Referencing Generator!

This is NOT to be missed!

Try it out for yourself and you will see why it is so good. This Online Referencing Generator developed by the School Library Association of South Australia is a brilliant tool for use by your students. It uses the Harvard Referencing system to help your students generate their references in the correct format.

It is available on the school intranet on the library page, as well as on the school public website. When using it from outside of the school intranet, you will need a password to use this tool. The password can be found on the moodle. Try it now!

New entrance for library!

Yesterday lots of hard work paid off, when we got some signage installed on the doors at the school entrance to the library.

It says welcome in a whole heap of different languages, including the mother tongue languages that our diverse range of students speak as well as English. It also includes all af the IB learner Profile characteristics.

We think it looks great. Come and have a look if you are nearby!

iPad competition for students...

If anything will help encourage students to read, it is the chance to win something awesome like an iPad! We at the library are donating, along with our Friends of the Library, a brand new iPad to one lucky student who completes the Premier's Reading Challenge this year. All the students have to do is read their 12 books by the cut off date in September, and submit their reading record to me here in the library, and they go in the running to win their own iPad.....

New resources

Please keep your eyes open for new resources in the library....Today I just purchased a copy of Nadia Wheatley's 'Playground' which is a fantastic look at Indigenous history and can be used in the classroom for a wide range of curriculum areas. Particularly good for those of you integrating the Indigenous theme in Term 3.....

Premier's Reading Challenge 2011

It's up and running again, folks! The Premier's Reading Challenge for 2011 has commenced again.

If you know of any keen readers who should be involved, please let me know or send them to the library to register. I have made folders of the booklists to make searching for a book easier!

A fresh look for the new year!

Well, while you were relaxing on holidays, we were busy rearranging the Youth Area of the library to make it a more modern and desirable area for the kids to spend their time. We now have an Xbox and a Wii for students to use after school and at lunch times. Come and have a look for yourself!
